I asked a hotel reception in Kuantan last year, whether or not they have any wifi in the rooms and the guy didn’t know what I was talking about. Oh come on, in this Internet age, how concealed are you from the reality by not knowing what wifi is, especially if you’re in the hospitality industry.

Well, only one hotel in Kuantan had wifi in the guest rooms – Hyatt Regency. The most expensive hotel around, which is not a big problem but they were full.

Even without wifi, new hotels should consider having at least built in network points inside the rooms. That way visitor can at least bring their own wifi access points for total mobility in the rooms. 😉

I still remember I had to install several cigarette-box sized access points for a client so that they can implement wireless VOIP in a huge building!
