If you’re one of the SysAdmins working for Maxis, and you celebrated the recent System Administrator’s Appreciation day, you should really think about your future. SysAdmins are supposed to make people life’s easier, not the other way round.
Maxis has been implementing transparent proxy for some time now, I think to save on bandwidth usage as it’s a caching proxy.
When I need to use HTTP, I need it immediately and I don’t need this kind of issue when I am paying RM158 for the service.
Man, I am so mad at Maxis right now. It’s good that I will soon switch to another telco, hopefully better.
The annoying thing is that I am already routing my DNS requests to OpenDNS, but my packets intended for port 80 traffic are all rerouted to the malfunctioning proxy!
And yes, I rather rant in here than to contact them as they will give some kind of generic reason and excuses, not knowing that they are talking to an experienced SysAdmin.
Oh well, this is Malaysia!
